The mission of Compassion Ministry is to encourage believers to become the hands and the feet of Jesus in such a manner that people are drawn into a personal relationship with the Lord and the salvation, healing and wholeness only He provides.
Those who choose to join the Compassion Ministry team will find that there are a variety of opportunities to get involved. Everyone has a gift, interest or skill that could benefit others. Some “jobs” require an occasional day or evening to help someone move, paint a room, take someone to the doctor, etc. Others require a regular commitment in order to visit a shut in, prepare a meal for a group, etc.
And finally, there are those who will feel called to Compassion Ministries as their primary ministry in the church, becoming an action team leader heading an aspect of the ministry, etc. Support and training are a critical aspect of the ministry as team members find themselves stretching and growing. Regular times of Bible Study and prayer as well as training, briefing and debriefing, and mentoring enable and encourage each team member.
In our daily lives, each of us may find ourselves caring for someone in our circle of influence that is dealing with a difficult life situation. Compassion Ministry is committed to equipping and supporting LifeGroups and individuals throughout the church body in learning to minister to the hurting through formal and informal training.
Another option of involvement is material and financial support. For example, this would include assistance given to participants like furniture, counseling, dental work, rent assistance, and clearing of an old debt for a fresh start. You may join the e-mail network for specific furniture, equipment; clothing, etc. requests, or financial contributions may be made through the Church during the Sunday offering. (Please label “Compassion Ministry”).
